 2 stroke engines are very cost effective with simple and straightforward technology, they are a strong and reliable engine and are normally the lightest in their range. We offer the range of Mercury 2 strokes from 2.5Hp to 90Hp in the carburettor models and 150Hp to 250Hp in the EFI models.  Mercury’s “Optimax” range is still a 2 stroke engine but to put it simply the way the fuel is injected into the engine promotes higher efficiency while still maintaining the proven 2 stroke performance. It is up to 45% more economical than a traditional 2 stroke. Evidential data supports the claim that “Optimax” is the most fuel efficient outboard engine on the market today.  Simply put 4 stroke engines are very quiet, ultra smooth and are smoke free. Along with great fuel economy this makes them both environmentally friendly and easy on the wallet. We offer the Mercury 4 stroke range from 2.5Hp to 115Hp, then in the “Verado” range from 135Hp to 350Hp.  South City Marine thinks that in some foreign language “Verado” must mean “awesome or sensational” as this is the easiest way to describe these engines. “Verado” is a supercharged 4 stroke engine with Mercury’s exclusive “Fly by Wire” digital throttle and shift control system allowing it to have the same if not more power and acceleration than a 2 stroke outboard but with all the other 4 stroke attributes making it an ideal engine for larger boating needs.
